Help with drafting

I am trying to create a architectural plan within rhino and have encountered a problem. As seen in the photo, I am trying to include the lines from my tiles within the plan, however because they are just lines and not solid meshes, I cant include them within the plan. Is there any method of including this tiling within the plan?

I’m creating my plan views with the actual 3D geometry. It comes with its own set of challenges but I’m getting it to work.

If you’re willing to invest time into learning how to set up a detail view within a layout there’s a few ways to do this. One would be overlaying two detail views on top of one another (a similar approach is often used in Sketchup).

Currently, using curves for printing gives the most control and least amount of glitches. That’s the main drawback with trying to print live geometry - so I see why you might be sticking with it.

One a whim: There’s a setting for clipping plane depth. It might work but I’m not sure:

Hi, Max

You can included the projected backgrounds in your sections. If you use EditClippingDrawings there should be an option for AddBackground.

Does this help?

Thank you, but I ended up cheesing it by extruding the faces of the squares by 1mm to add it to the plan lmao. One question quickly though, is there a method of increasing the distance a plan/drafting camera can see in the distance?

I don’t believe so. I think the camera sees infinitely and the way you can control visibility is with the clipping plane custom depth property, as Keith pointed out. This is different to other programs where you can control the camera clipping directly.

Ah ok thank you, I ended up getting it in the end

Hi Max -

We have that issue on our list as RH-85431 ClippingDrawings: Support Background Curves and Hatches

Does that mean that you have a scene where some of the background is not included in the clipping drawing?
