Help - Polysurface Flickering in all Views - Rhino 6

Hi There,

Can anybody please help me to fix the issue of Polysurface Flickering.on Rhino 6, Windows 10, on Laptop and 2nd Monitor.

I have tried all previous advice for flickering but to no avail.

I have attached images of said problem.

Thanks,

Ricky

I’m guessing you’re just asking your graphics card to do more than it has resources to do.
Assuming these are both standard resolution monitors (not 4k+), do you have at least 8GB VRAM?
What display adapter are you running?
What resolution are you running your monitors?

Hi Ricky - is the model vary far from the world origin?

-Pascal

Hi Pascal,

It is a 1:1 Model of a Small area in East London, but I have moved it to the origin point already.

Thanks,

Ricky

Hi John,

I believe I do not have 8GB VRAM, I have 16GB RAM and 128 MB VRAM

I use an HDMI to connect to my monitor,

Laptop Screen Resolution is 1920 x 1080 (32 bit) (120Hz)
Monitor Resoloution 1920 x 1080 (32 bit) (59HZ)

Thanks,

Ricky

I need more detail.
Please run the SystemInfo command in V6 and post the results.
It will have lots more details.

Thanks

Is this what you need?

Would it be beneficial to upload the file too?

Thanks,

Ricky

Your video card drivers are from 2018, try updating them.

@ricky.ansher

Open your Notification Panel.
There will be two mesages suggesting you update your display drivers.
Follow this links.
There are updated drivers for both the May and June.

If nothing it plugged into the Intel display adapter, I’d suggest Disabling in in Windows’ Device Manager.
That’s what I’ve done on my own system.

This should fix the problems.
These “hybrid” graphics systems are a fricken mess.

@John_Brock

Have updated my drivers, does not seem to have changed anything unfortunately.

What do I need to disable in Windows Device Manager.

Thanks

Hello - just in case, after you move things nearer the World origin, run ClearAllMeshes and then shade the view again. Any better?

-Pascal

Unfortunately not, no change

I also tried opening the file on my friend’s more powerful computer and there was the same problem.

I’m begining to think there may be a problem with the actual file its self

Hi Ricky-

Can you export the relevant objects to a new file, verify the problem still happens, and send us that, to tech@mcneel.com? If it only happens with the full file, send us that if you can - please include a link to this topic. If the file is very large, please SaveSmall, Zip and upload to www.rhino3d.com/upload to my attention.

-Pascal

Hi Pascal,

It was still a problem in the new file and I have sent it over.

Thanks,

Ricky

Hi Ricky - set DocumentProperties> Mesh page and set a custom mesh - I would set ‘maximum distance edge to surface’ to say 50 units.
