In the material tab > Displacement there is a “hatch bump texture” option. This option can’t be changed and doesn’t have a “choose pattern” option… say if I wanted to do a brick pattern
The Tile texture should be able to give what you want. Did you try that?
The different bump textures are primarily used in the bump slots for Metal and Plastic materials.
Yes i’m looking at the settings now and the offset function should be able to accomplish this… only when I turn the displacement with this tile displacement, command line says “displacement failed 0” I’ll have to go down the rabbit hole and learn more/thoubleshoot.
@nathanletwory My doing this was motivated by trying to get a realistic material render, similarly I’ve tried to make siding with bump/displacement before with mixed results.
Hey guys, I had another more long-winded post that got a reply from the devs who said this .PAT based displacement/bump is non-functioning so it appears i’ve come up against a wall. Thanks for the pointers and the help.
can you send a file that shows this behavior? For displacement, best is to use an even mesh. See also this video by @BrianJ
