This pattern is called the trinacria tessella - I cannot seem to find references for building something like this
This pattern is one I developed - I used a diagrid to generate point locations > oriented this star shaped brep onto the data points > used a scale attractor point to get them to emulate weaving.
Not a bad start. Anyone done anything similar to this?
