Why the unwrapped mesh of this simple box is skewed and rotated?
This is actually something we’re working on right now. It can, of course, be corrected using the UVEditor, but it’s certainly true that the orientation in texture space of unwrapped objects can be mis-aligned.

We’ve actually just fixed this over the past couple of days in Rhino 6.
Any chance we get this in SR for v5? Maybe a bonus tool?
Here we’ll get to use v6 when it’s released, so probably a year or two from now. I would use this regularly for the time being,
I’ll see if this particular change can be added to SR6.
It’s in, but it will be in SR7.
