Hairline leak/gap between two connected surfaces seam (Rhino 7)

Hi everyone,

I’m a beginner in Rhino, and I ran into this weird problem when creating two connected surfaces. Some advice would be appreciated.

Please check this screen recording: Rhino 7 Problem - Hairline Leak on Surface seam - YouTube
Working file: Issue.3dm (274.9 KB)

Steps:

  1. I patch the 1st surface

  2. I do sweep2 on the 2nd surface

  3. In the rendered view, we can see there is a hairline leak/gap on the seam between those two surfaces.

Note:

  • I tried networksrf and planarsrf on the 1st surface, but still resulted in the same issue.

  • I tried all the different settings of the sweep2 (maintain height ticked/unticked, refit rails tick/unticked, etc.) on the 2nd surface, also tried networksrf, but still resulted in the same issue

  • I made sure the points on that curve are flat, the same heights.

Can anyone tell me what I did wrong here, please? Thanks before.

There is not a gap there, but when 3d software shows you the surfaces on your screen, it turns them into meshes and sometimes you’ll be able to see a gap between the meshes. The simple solution is to Join the surfaces together. Then the mesher meshes them together and there won’t be a gap.

Ah, you’re right. I thought I made a mistake or something. Thank you, this helps a lot!
