Gumball relocation with Text

I haven’t been a big fan of the new gumball relocation changes previously you would hold down ctrl to relocate the gumball. Now you double click on it. I am starting to get used to it but ran into an issue today. If you have text double clicking on the gumball doesn’t when it’s near text doesn’t relocate it instead it opens the text editor.

I’ve reported this before.

It looks fine in Rhino 8.13

I’d like to know which version of Rhino 8 are you using now? Could you run the SystemInfo in the command line of Rhino 8 and post the popup content here? Thanks.

While you’re waiting for them to fix it you can use the right-click menu. Not a perfect work-around I know… I personally hate little inconsistencies like that and having to remember to do things differently in random situations.

You’ve clicked a location off the text, try clicking a location on the text (on the gumball widget of course).

I got your point, this issue will happen when the Plane of Gumball overlaps with the text. In this situation, it is recommended that you zoom the view slightly to avoid their overlapping as much as possible. Thanks.

Another good workaround! Thanks!!

@jessesn there are workarounds for everything…

I think if the mouse is on top of a gumball handle and the handle goes black, a double click should do what is is supposed to do: Relocate the gumball and nothing else.

Here’s another topic where two overlapping things cause problems:

[BUG] Changing layer starts commands on its own - Rhino / Rhino for Windows - McNeel Forum

It seems this is not solely a gumball problem. Does the Rhino interface have a general problem with overlapping commands / command options?
