Migrating from Rhino7 to Rhino 8. Hit Cntrl drag to move Gumball at bottom as you have muscle memory. And suddenly computer go to a oblivion. Why would you have that set to extrude, to make Rh7 users gotcha?

Yes! thatâs what was my point. When you are Rhino user, years and years prior to Rhino 8, you tend to Cntrl drag Gumball (that was shortcut to move Gumball before). Generally âdonât change what has worked and not brokenâ is the rule but Rhino 8 overdone Gumball. There was already that dot on gumball to extrude. Everybody do more Gumball moving than extruding. Mouse clicks to activate command is still a weird thing and annoying when you are in office environment clicking continously. Right click once to repeat previous command is an exception to that.

Well, I am working Rhino since 2010, so 15 years too. For you, it might be better. I found no sense in replacing old shortcut with extrude function when extrude already have with dot click. I use Cntrl+RMB. Shift RMB which is lightning fast for zoom pan. Also Shift drag is uniform scale. So Cntrl drag suddenly now is a extrude which doesnât make sense. It messed up all combo now.

Nonsensical changes are hard to embrace. Itâs a compromise than embrace.
Well! Compromise then! Emphasis will be on Overloaded not with consistent.
Sometimes itâs necessary to make breaking changes in order to move forward⌠Not always fun, but a fact of life.
And yes, people keep asking for more functions to be added to the Gumball, so expect it to get more âoverloadedâ with time.
At least, it will be good to have options to customize gumball hotkeys or to keep other combo as option. I hope hotkeys will not change with each version like Blender! I personally would like Cntrl +triple left click to order DoorDash for consistency!

Not sure if this is a good observation but i think Rhino is getting more complex
new unproven things new bugs emerge some more annoying than others
Then there is the challenge to make it all work together and re learn
Sometimes I think V5 is better in some areas because of its simplicity while v8 is better in its respektive things so its never a this new version Triumphs the past one I find.

i like that too.
but, before (rhino 7 mac at least no idea about windows) we could extrude a curve by clicking the dot which resulted in an open extrusion. now we have to add cmd to do the same, and the closed extrusion is by default. yes we can now make closed extrusions with the gumball ok, but instead of keeping the muscle memory safe and leave open extrusion as it was which is perfectly possible the same, and adding cmd to make a closed extrusion instead someone came up with the idea to just switch that without any sense.
i further argue that open extrusions are something i use more often, the added cmd makes me nuts..
