Grasshopper issue

Hello McNeal team,

I’m having an strange issue with Grasshopper.
I’ve worked a project on Rhino 7, both geometry and GH.
I continued/migrated work on Rhino 8 and now the GH file won’t work as in Rhino 7.
It freezes, takes forever to open and there are missing elements (references), which makes no sense since Rhino files are the same.

Any idea why is this happening?

Hi idmartinortiz,

Lets start with your SystemInfo for Rhino 8.

If you are missing standard components perhaps something went wrong on the install. You can go to Add & Remove Programs and modify the install - Repair.

Is there a small example you can provide that shows the issue?

Hi Japhy,

How to start… This is a brand new computer (Alienware m18 R2) , in which I just installed Rhino 7 and Rhino 8, about 3 weeks ago.
Both versions are up to date. I’ve been working all my files in R8 with no problem so far, except this particular file.
I’m trying all kinds of things but no luck. I just opened the Rhino file in R7 and the GH file is ok. But now I get the message that some components from other plug-ins are missing (image attached)

Which is ironic since all this plug-ins are installed in the Components directory (image attached from Rhino 8)

This is the directory path from Rhino 7

Same plug-ins but different directory looks like… really weird.

If I repair or re-install rhino, all my setting are going to be lost again. (colors, units, nudge, mouse pop up, etc ) that takes lots of time to set up.

I don’t know what kind of example can I send? I can’t share files since this is IP protected for my client.

Please help… I need to work and this is a big issue.

Thanks

Yes, I noticed…
What can I do about it?
Don’t want to screws things up
The user components are showing great in both versions… why not the plug-ins?

When I click on the root directory it shows both the same…
I tried changing the path and it won’t let me

Both directories have the same files? Check the properties of the file to make sure it wasn’t set to read only by copying (check the unblock checkbox if present)

In did some of the plug-ins where blocked.

Some of them uploaded well in GH, some are still missing… pOd for example which has a fundamental component

I get this message when GH opens now.

Almost there…

I’m still in aww why the GH file won’t work in Rhino 8

yes, you have multiple versions of Telepathy, the one that was installed via package manager to 7.0 is the newer one.

If you installed via package manager the dev of the plugin can target 7, 8, or both.

those are located here, but you will want to go into package manager in 7 and 8 to manage (install/uninstall if need be)

C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\McNeel\Rhinoceros\packages

Will try, thanks

I’m just missing pOd plug in…
