Grasshopper Evaluate Surface component does not preserve tree paths

Why are the paths {0} and {1} not preserved?

Why can’t I use Shift Paths component to unshift them?

I guess they are not shifted, you need to Renumber your tree:

Have you tried to set the Surface input as Principle?

You can use [Path Mapper] to replace the [Shift Paths] problem.
