GPU releases Rhino while it's still open to crash it

I’m had some times when the external GPU connected via thunderbolt on a laptop gets released even if Rhino is still running. ->and hence Crash

I’m wondering if anybody out there also experienced this kind of situation.
(I’m wondering if people having issues with V-RAY crashes has similar instances of the GPU getting released and causing the crash)
Using GTX1070 (external GPU box)

Releasing the GPU - does that mean you manually remove the device while Rhino is still using it?

Just replied back on other post, but without my doing anything it’s as if GPU was disabled for a second and comes back up again.
Setting windows powernanager/battery manager slide bar to highest performance(most drain on battery) if that helps the situation.
This only seem to happen for when using external gpu via thunderbolt, so not so normal case…

What is the exact brand and model of the GPU?

The GPU is external one is Aorus Gaming Box with GTX1070 from gigabyte.

Thanks.

First thought is that the existing OpenGL contexts are all invalid once the device drops out, even when it comes back.

@stevebaer, @jeff, any idea about this?

If there’s anything I can help out pls let me know.
I’m sure egpu would be headache to test…

Unfortunately, I’m probably going to need a similar config and setup in order to take a look at this. I don’t see that happening before the new year, and most likely not before the initial release of 6.0.

I have made a 6.1 tracking report and currently have marked it “Major”.

Thanks. I post info when I notice some way to reproduce it.
Could also be the external gpu box itself and not the GPU card inside it. To many variables…
