Going from mesh to single surface

This might be a simple question, but what is the workflow from going from a mesh to a single NURBS? surface in rhino. The application being I want to give it some grasshooper patterns.

See reference image showing i found online showing single? surface.

I had created this kind of mesh network in grasshopper, converting the mesh to a brep, and then extracting the curves in grasshopper, but it’s really not accurate at all… how can i improve this?

Hi Jimbo -

With ShapeMap, it is not necessary to have a single surface.

I just looked through this, and downloaded some of the files. It seem in order to use shapemap I need a clean NURBS surface. which is the problem I was asking about in my original post. Unless there is something I am missing?

This image appears to show the use of NetWorkSrf to build a single surface. If you need to use the same method, you also need to establish the same two sets of curves as shown in this image: one set is the U-direction, and the other set is the V-direction. For detailed instructions on how to use NetWorkSrf, please refer to the explanation below.

I tried the networksrf method, but still is not giving me the results I need. Just trying to go from the mesh to a nurbs surface.

This is what I did in grasshopper, but it doesn’t retain any of the important detail…

There must be reliable workflows to go from mesh to nurbs sruface

That you didn’t upload your grasshopper file for others to look at. Screenshots can only get you so far!

No you don’t. That is exactly what shapemap is for. It takes Breps, not surfaces. Try again
