Get Projection Area of wing on plane

Hi

I’m modeling different wings in Rhino to be used in a cfd analysis. To do this, I need stl models of comparable size, in this case projection area onto the horizontal plane. How can I get Rhino to display this projection area? As far as I see the Area command displays the surface area of the wing, which is not useful for me.

Thanks!
Stefan

You might try _MeshOutline in the Top view, that should give you a closed polyline projected on the world XY plane that you can measure the area of. The fine-ness of the polyline will depend on your display mesh settings. If your object is not closed, your polyline outline might not be either, so you might have to artificially fill in some gaps…
