Geometric pattern across multi-surface panel

Hi Guys,
Im trying to do a complex hex pattern that moves across several surfaces that are joined. I dont know where to go for help.

here is simple mapping:

However. Hexmapping usually is much more complicated. For better results forget about Lunchbox. Build a Hex pattern from curves. This will allow you to better control the outcome.

Interesting. How would you get a gradient hex pattern with this approach? I have a lot to learn. is that R6?
