Geo-Fencing on Buy Page, List of Resellers

Is there a list of resellers posted on the McNeel website? If so, I couldn’t find it. My specific desire was to see the list because of related products and services (particularly training). Search engines are helpful but not great.

While trying to locate resellers, I came cross the following problem which I would call a bug even though it was probably designed as a feature. On the buy page, please let us select our own location on the dealer/reseller region selection page. Presently the dropdown seems to be locked based on IP, which isn’t bad unless:

  1. geo-ip determination is wrong
  2. user is traveling
  3. user is expecting to be at an industry conference and would like to check in with the local Rhino people
and possibly other cases. I’ve hit both 1 and #2 personally in the last few months. 1 was because when using Starlink the ground station may not be where you expect. #2 is not hard but an unusual bug report case in that following the replication steps can be a lot of fun.

Hi @Nathan_Bossett,

Thanks for asking. We get this questions periodically and are not sure what the best way to solve it is. Most of the time, the geolocation works correctly and people get what they need. I don’t think going back to the 1990s and making people click on a map every time they want to buy Rhino is a good idea (though we do have that map, and you can use it to solve this problem).

I’m in the US, and when I visit Rhino - Buy - Rhinoceros, it shows me these countries as options:

Should I add “Other…” that takes you to the map?

I agree that it’s nice to get the best guesses up front: I’m not a fan of sites that, for example, give me an alphabetical list and make me scroll all the way down to “United States of America”.

Being a little pedantic, I might suggest “Pick from Map” rather than “Other” since those options will be on the map.

Thanks!
