Frequent clicks break "New Component Family"

I am testing and extending the method Scott mentioned here custom family template. It looks most of the categories showed up in Revit’s “Model In Place” window could be taken by “New Component Family” without assigning a family template. (I sort of understand the excel file showed in the link.) However, today I found, after 23 clicks, the component stops taking in anything and report error. Is it because of the cache? If it is, is there a way to clear cache?

Usually project manager using Revit cares about categories and use it to create schedule and they dislike anything “Generic”. It would be handy if “New Component Famliy” becomes more rubust, when frequently switching and clicking happened in the workflow.

I was using Revit 2021 and a brand new file doing the test.

I think you would have better results grafting the list vs trying to change the category of the same family. Not quite following what you are doing but would expect errors in this workflow (assigning misc categories to a generic model template)
