Font compatibility bug? text and dimension text sometime disapear,

This only happens after I upgrade to R6.
text and text portion of the dimension sometime will not render in view, will come back if I force some kind of “redraw” by copy>delete>paste, or change the dimension style tied to the text globally, I’m only seeing this when I’m using the font KievitOT family.
Noticed bug-like behavior below:

  • will sometime disapear
  • will sometime crash R6 when trying to edit text (crash report sent)
  • if I’m using KievitOT-black for example for a dimension style on a text, whenever I try to edit the text, the font for that specific text object will revert to a KievitOT-regular, and will only come back to normal if I do a global change to that dimension style

Is this a compatibility issue with this specific font, or a type of fonts, or do you think I have a corrupted font file? The font is installed by my companies’ IT all on laptop so it shouldn’t be the issue I think.

Hi Jun - can you send us the font file? tech@mcneel.com, to my attention… please include a link to this conversation in your email.

thanks,

-Pascal

KievitOT fonts.zip (78.4 KB)

these are two of the fonts I have problem with.

Hi Jun - thanks, I made an annotation style with these - I’ll see how they behave here.
@Jun_Wang - does the bad stuff happen in layouts or model space or both?

-Pascal

it happens in model space, I haven’t been using them in layout at all.

OK - thanks, and can you please run SystemInfo in Rhino and paste the results here?

thanks,

-Pascal

Hi Jun - can you try SR12? To do this, change Options > Updates and Statistics > Update frequency to ‘Service release candidate’ and then check for updates.

-Pascal

I will have to talk to our IT as updates are admin controlled, will report back.

Best,

Hi Pascal,

After finally getting my hands on a SR12 I can confirm albeit with very limited testing that the issue seems to go away in SR12, screen shots below:

SR10 font change appearance upon editing (changed from bold to regular):
before:

after:

SR12 doesn’t seem to happen so far:
before:

after:

after my firm upgrade to SR12 I will be able to test this more extensively, thank you for the help.

Best,
Jun
