FlowSrf That Approximates The Pole Of A Sphere?

I need a consistent method to create four-sided FlowSrf targets that approximate the pole of a sphere. I always get distortion at the corner points of the surface:

I don’t need it mathematically perfect, but I’d love to have cross-sections taken along the Z to be within .01mm of a perfect circle. Here, when I use a plane to intersect this surface, it’s 0.2mm out of round when measured with CrvDeviation:

Hi Eric - grabbing a face from testQuadSphere might be a starting point. Hm, but if you need the tangent edges, I dunno… I am not sure what the goal is…?

Neato…CrvDeviation is sub 0.01mm.

The next problem is the base surface. I’ll try to set z on a copy of the face to get it planar.

I’m trying to replicate effects from a dapping block:

Does it need to be an untrimmed surface?

Yeah, it needs to be untrimmed with clean UV’s to prevent distortion.

@pascal’s method worked perfectly. Flattening the surface makes a good base and you can adjust the depth of the dome with Scale1D.
