Correct. I typed a short reply, then saw that it was incorrect so I edited it to say “deleted”.
To orient the curves relative to the line create a guide line tangent to the end of each curve which will be adjacent to the straight line. Line - Tangent - end of curve - From First Point - create line. Then Orient curve using ends of guide line as reference points and end of the line representing the straightened helix as the target points.
