Fit surface to rail then slide or match point to point on rail?

Hi,
I need to fit a planar surface to a rail I have, then slide it along rail until I get the fit I am after.

Is that possible ?

or failing that I need ‘A’ on surface to be at ‘A’ on rail.

How is this done ?

Maybe 2 point orient would work.—-Mark

Hi,
it asks for target point and I wish to click and slide.

here is the item to play with.

I wish to slide and match the taper to the gap its supposed to fit.

so that ‘A’ on towel is at ‘A’ on curve.

flow doesnt let you say that point on the surface should be at ‘that’ point on the target curve.

If you set the Cplane to the object(surface), then you can use the gumball to move other objects parallel to that surface.
I am not sure what you are wanting to do. Are you wanting to move that seat along the planer surface? —-Mark

ok I think I know what you want to do. set your cplane to the planer surface. pick the seat or towel and it move along the planer surface. If you need to relocate the gumball to get in close , do that. —Mark

looks like 26 .1 cms is the intersecting length.—Mark

Hi,

set your cplane to the planer surface. pick the seat or towel and it move along the planer surface

but the rail to which I used flow is not planar.
I need to fit it such that I can slide it up and down the rail, or else make ‘A’ be at ‘A’ on the rail, but ideally slide it up and down.

How do I do either when rail is not planar ?

Steve

Hi @Steve1
Just make sure to have History enabled when you start Flow. Then you can move (or scale) your original, flat surface up and down until you get the desired fit, A to A.

Hi Jakob,
excellent I will try that.
