Fillet Edge: Part Deux

In the attached file I have those cobra shaved solid. At each side I have 3 edges that are G1. I want to fillet the top edges to that they are 1/2" at the bottom and 1" at the start of the upper straight segment ad shown here:

This seems simple bug I get this:

In this particular case I can mutually split the source and the fillet surfaces, join them, and have a solid.

I am puzzled why Rhino does not do this on its own?

Hello- the problem is here:

as soon as the radius is large enough to consume that short edge completely, it fails, because, same, age-old problem, the fillet then needs to deal with a face that does not use the selected edge.
