This request is about allowing individual settings for the NURBS geometry, SubD and meshes inside the display modes. The idea is to allow the simultaneous rendering of wireframe NURBS geometry (or SubD) while the meshes (and/or SubD) are shaded, which helps a lot with working on 3d scan data, building NURBS or SubD on top and comparing the result directly.
I’m aware that I can use the ! _SetObjectDisplayMode command, but it changes the selected object’s appearance permanently (unless it’s changed or removed entirely), thus it can’t be used to quickly toggle the visibility of the NURBS geometry (or SubD geometry) to see the underlying 3d mesh reference model. Allowing individual settings for “Shade objects” (replaced by “Shade NURBS”, “Shade meshes” and “Shade SubD”) for each display mode will let the users quickly toggle two display mode, one of which could have the “Shade NURBS” turned off for the aforementioned reason.
