Face Face Offset problem

I’m having erroneous results using Face Face offset on a simple box. Am i missing something? this is certainly possible as this is the first time I have used this operation, which works in other cases (spheres/surfaces etc).

I’m aiming to use it on an input mesh of triangles and quads both - largely rectilinear to obtain a series of closed mesh cells from the original.
