I’m trying to work out a method to tell apart glazing and frame geometry in a revit window family. is this possible?

Ideally your window family should have the geometry categorized more accurately, and parts that are glazing should come in the ‘Windows\Glass’ category.
If this is not your case you can try some “approximation” getting just the piece of geometry that has more area for instance. Keep in mind that this is not going to work well with windows that have more than one panel or are not glazing at all.

Yes, this family is not great, ideally this should be fixed in Revit. I guess I was hoping to discover a method of splitting geometry using materials.
