Extend(trimmed)surfaces

Hello, since the latest update, I can’t extend trimmed surfaces anymore.
I can only make the surfce shorter, not longer.

Before, some surfaces didn’t work, then I need to untrim IT, and then I can extend it. now I need to do that with all surfaces, which costs a lot of time.

is this a problem from latest update? and can it be fixed, or is it another problem.

Making shorter is possible, longer isn’t

Hi -

This is fixed in the public version of Rhino 8.13 that is available as a Service Release Candidate.

Hi Wim, I just purchased Rhino 8 and have a similar problem when working on trimmed surfaces. When I check for the update it says I am up to date on 8.12 as being the newest version. Any chance to obtain 8.13 with the fix? thanks Michael

Hi Michael -

On the Rhino Options -> Updates and Statistics page, change the Update frequency from Service Release to Service Release Candidate.

great, thanks Wim! I managed to update to 8.13 and it’s extending the surface but I have to do it in different steps. There still seems to be a limitation in how far I can extend in the up or downward extension of a hull surface and it’s not as smooth as in Rhino 7. On a second & third surface extend attempt Rhino crashes. Forced stop of Rhino…

on a line extend it works better, on smooth it’s K.O. and it’s a pretty simple hull side with very limited control points.
