Does anybody have experience with exporting Rhino geometry to Abaqus?
We are having significant problems with surface and solid geometry when using SAT files (ACIS 4.0). Even after adjusting the tolerance to 1e-6m to match the Abaqus import expectations, we often encounter geometry which appears “broken” after import to Abaqus - additional vertices where there should be none, broken outlines of trimmed surfaces etc. Often the problems arise not directly at import, but after merging geometry from different parts into a common assembly and meshing all parts.
Has anyone developed a stable way of exporting geometry from multiple layers into Abaqus?
P.S. We separate geometry into different layers and SAT files so we can assign different properties (materials, shell thicknesses, etc) while importing to Abaqus.
