I am operating Rhino in a Vectorworks environment and we all export DXF to Alphacam. The Vectorworks users export all of the drilling information as centerpoints or Loci. I have done it in Rhino a few times but each time I do it, I never remember HOW I did it the previous time before and it takes me forever to figure it out.
If I have a large file with thousands of drill points and export them as geometry (diameters or circles) the file can become difficult to handle for the Alphacam users.
I have to be able to go from 3d and flatten them to 2D and then export the loci or points. At each point in the process, I have to go back and do something because it either was lost in making it 2d or wasn’t exported or something else. What is a workflow that will work every time that I can put into practice?
I am mainly concerned with the 2D export but if anyone can help with the having the points also flatten from 3D that would be great!
