Exporting 3D solids to IGS

Dear all,

I have a problem with exporting 3D model to IGS format. The problem is as follows:

I generate a 3D model in Rhinoceros and save as IGS model. But, when I import it to my simulation platform SimScale, the platform does not recognize any solid in the file. I have tried many different configurations (even changing the advanced export options) but I always get the same problem: the platform recognizes the objets as faces only.

Could you please help me and explain to me what I am doing wrong?

IGES does not support “solids”, only surfaces; there is no joining information in an IGES file. If your program can import it, the best thing would be to try exporting as STEP format, which does support closed volumes (“solids”).
