hello, I work with rhino5 in 3d (design layouts for fair boothes) some one asks me to convert JUST THE PLAN VIEW in dwg or dxf. When I export the file I have two problems:
1- the dxf file is 3d and not just the plan view, I do not know if it is possible to extract just the plan view
2- The dxf file is enormous in terms of megabytes.
could you pls help me?
Well we would probably need to see a file… So they want a 2D view? That’s what Make2D is for.

You need to use the Make2D
from Top view to extract the 2D contours of your 3D parts. Just play with the settings and see what best works for you. After that you need to use the SelCrv
command and select only the 2D generated curves from the Make2D command and finaly use Export Selected
to save only the 2D curves.

Thank you now I try
Forgot to mention, if you need 2D for a section of your models, create first a Clipping Plane, move-it vertically to the level you want to make the 2D section through the 3D objects and after that run the Make2D command.
Thank u, very useful your competence! I got!
