Export 3dm to obj but the file gets really big

Hi All,

I’m trying to export a 8.5MB file to obj format, but it turns out to be 370MB, as attached, my file contains mesh. I’m just wondering what’s the reason and if there is any way to reduce the obj file down? (smaller than 200mb)

Hi Henry - OBJ is inherently larger on disk just because it is written as text, not binary, so it will be larger. If the data you have in Rhino are only meshes, then there is not much you can do - but if you have surfaces that are being converted to meshes for OBJ export, you can be efficient in how the meshes are generated - see
