Error Message with Rhino 9 Beta

Hi all,

I wanted to check if this is just happening on my end, or if it’s a known issue the V-Ray developers are already aware of without a fix yet.

Every time I launch the Rhino 9 Beta (9.0.26244), I get this message

even though I have the experimental V-Ray build for Rhino 9 installed.

Hi @laborda

This is not an issue, but a necessary warning. Plugins for Rhino 9 WIP are compiled against the Rhino 8 SDK, and since Rhino WIP is [usually] binary compatible with the previous version, it all works.
However we had issues before for Rhino 8 BETA + Rhino 7 and planted this message box.

Rhino 9 is in BETA for some time now, and since there is no Rhino 9 SDK, V-Ray is still built against Rhino 8 SDK. Having in mind the issues we had with Rhino 8 BETA, we can’t guarantee that it will work 100%. So we basically say “use it on your own risk”.

@Nikolay it would be great though if that box gets a ‘never show this again’ check box, because it blocks Rhino from further loading. Since I am starting Rhino many times a day, this becomes a nuisance.

@Gijs I need to persist the setting to the persistent storage, but totally doable.

Done,
you’ll be able to suppress the message, if you click YES.

clicking NO would not record the suppression flag, since Rhino unloads the .dll and serialization does not happen. I think this is expected.

Hi @Nikolay how does it work?
Will this option be available an option in next update?

The message box has an additional checkbox that you can click.

If you click YES, it will remember your choice and next time will not appear
It will be available in V-Ray 7.50.00
