I get this kind of rendered background when using environment map in v-ray 3.4. I’ve tried changing mapping type settings under UVW but without effect. This only happens occasionally and I can’t seem to find setting to fix it.

I can’t imagine what exactly you want to do. If you need this picture only for background, without affecting through the light and shadows, then you can load it directly in VFR as jpeg image. If you want to use this picture in rendering process then you should map it as screen image not as spherical map.
Hi Andres, use Mapping Type “Spherical” for HDR spherical images and use “Screen” for basic JPG photos.
Had to reinstall v-ray because simply switching between various mapping types had no effect in VFB. Still don’t know what was the problem. Tnx guys
