Elongated quadrangles on flatter surfaces

Is there a way in Rhino to elongate meshes when on flatter surfaces ?
As seen in this image, 2D curves have meshes that go end to end, while 3D meshes favor the more squarish Quadrangle.
Being able to control such will help in Bump Texturing

Hello- if you are referring to the Mesh command or render meshing, use detailed controls to set ‘aspect ratio’ or ‘maximum edge length’, ‘maximum distance edge to surface’.
