I’m having difficulty bringing across Revit elements in the associated Project, both locally in the Revit model as well as in linked models. I’m trying to bring across ceiling-related elements, including Mechanical Diffusers (Air Terminal category) and linked lighting elements (Lighting Fixture category). I seem to be able to identify the geometry either by selecting the element category or manually picking the Revit elements, but am unable to get a preview/visual of the geometry in Rhino. I’m suspecting my workflow is missing a step, and am hopeful someone can point to what I’m failing to include. Any thoughts?
Close, the Family Component Picker isn’t giving you the Type but the Family, once you have the type you can create a Type Filter and Query Elements in the Document by that Type.
Ahh - figured out half the problem. In going through the process to extract the geometry into an empty Revit model, I came upon the realization that the modeled Diffuser was actually just 2D linework in the RCP - by adding volume to it, it became visible in the main model. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
So, now I can get the geometry to appear if manually selecting. However, the two automated workflows are still having issues…
There are actually two errors, both the same, with the comment; “Object reference not set to an instance of an object.” There should be geometry in there though, as the manual selection is working…?
