Editing block instance causes hatch to move

Hatch Bug.3dm (48.9 KB)

This Rhino file contains a block with two objects: a hatch and a curve at the hatch boundary.

Double-click to open block edit, then immediately click “Okay” without making any changes. When block edit closes, the hatch shifts slightly (about 0.0074 units) relative to the block location (the curve is unchanged). Repeatedly opening and closing block edit in this way incrementally shifts the hatch more and more away from the boundary curve.

Exploding the block and creating a new block with these objects fixes the problem, and new instances of this block don’t have the problem either, so it seems to be some corruption to the state of this particular instance (the bug did survive copying this block instance from another model).

Hi @Measure,

This appears to be fixed in the Rhino 9 Beta.

– Dale

FYI, it appears that this was caused by the block instance having a very slight possibly nonuniform scale. Close enough to unity that block edit allows editing, but different enough to cause problems.

Hi @Measure,

There have been a ton of big fixes in BlockEdit for V9. When you have time, give it a test drive.
