Duplicate Layout Bug

Hi, I’ve noticed that duplicating a layout too many times especially if you don’t change the name of the layout when you copy it (going with default name when layout is duplicated) it consistently crashes Rhino 8

ps: This bug has been there for a very long while

How many are we talking here? Please run system info in your Rhino command line and post the result. Thanks

its predictable in the fact the duplicating layout crashes your system, however idk how many times you duplicate has a role in the bug. About a year ago I had a file it was like 60 layouts, and id change their name but what id do is first make 3-4 dups then change all their name together, the file crashed multiple times during a week of work. HOWEVER this time it happened in a new file the duplicate layout i did.

So answer to your question: 1

PS. I didnt use the command, I used layout panel (duplicate layout button)

Interesting. Nevertheless it would be extremely helpful if you would run the systeminfo command and post the output here. Not only to see if there is anything significant about your system but also so that the developers can be sure they are using the same Rhino version (and perhaps the same hardware setup) that you are using.

There are a number of variables here. My only guess is that your system is under specs or you are running into excessive name lengths.

Can you provide steps to repeat and your systeminfo? Thanks

Hi,

steps to repeat? easy..

1- open layouts panel

2- select the only layout that I have

3- click the duplicate layout button.

It’s the first time for me that Rhino crashes with the first duplicate layout, however duplicating 3rd, 4th times has been a problem for me more than once before.

I haven’t been able to repeat, please run the systeminfo command and post the results. Thanks!
