Drop down menus are not all working

(Litwinaa) #1

Hello,

The Drop down menus are not all working. For example, in Properties the drop down menu for “Display Color” does not show any options. Running Rhino in safe mode does show me options.
Do you please have an idea of what could be happening ?

Thank you,

Andy

p.s. I had / still sometimes do have a similar problem with the Quality dropdown menu in Rhino Render.

Here is my system info:

Hello,

Now the “Display Color” and other drop down menus that were not working are working now. I had simply closed Rhino and then reopened it. But this same pattern has happened before. There appears to be an intermittent glitch of some sort.

Thank you,

Andy

the 6.10 service release just dropped…do help>check for updates and see if that was fixed. if not let us know and we’ll dig deeper.

(Litwinaa) #4

Hello Kyle,

Thank you for the help. I installed the update but unfortunately still experienced the same sort of problem. In Safe Mode the drop down menus that are available seem to work. I then opened Rhino in normal mode and the drop down menus worked. As of now the drop down menus are working. This glitch does not seem to be file specific.

Thank you,
Andy

i’m confused…are they working or not? you say they are not working, but then say they are working… what am I missing?

there is a newer graphics driver you can try and see if that helps…occasionally we see a driver release that is a bit of a stinker… may be worth trying an update there.

browse manually, don’t use the auto detect tools on the nvidia site.

Hello Kyle,

It seems to be an intermittent problem. Sometimes they work and at other times they do not. I cannot determine a pattern for this. As of this moment the drop down menus are working. I hope this helps to clarify the situation.

I can proceed as you advise regarding the graphics driver.

Thank you,

Andy

That’s up to you.
If it were me, I would make sure the display drivers for my Intel and NVIDIA display adapters were updated.

(Litwinaa) #8

Hello John,

ok. I will check on the display driver for the Intel display adapter as well.

Thank you,

Andy

Which Intel GPU do you have?
The Intel driver site is very difficult to navigate.
They list the drivers by development code name and generation instead of by model.
I can maybe save you some frustration.

(Litwinaa) #10

Hello John,

Thank you. For the CPU E3-1535M v6 in this machine the Intel site:

lists the GPU as the: HD Graphics P630

Thank you very much for the help. I appreciate it.

Andy

Here it is:

You have a “6th Generation” chip

Hello John,

Will do,

Thank you,

Andy

Hello John,

I tried to install: win64_25.20.100.6373.exe but received an error message: " This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software. "
Apparently you need to have the : Microsoft Windows* 10-64 - Fall Creators Update
on your computer. So I guess I will have to wait until this downloads as an update and then update the driver.

Thank you for all of the help,

Andy

Run Windows’ About your PC.
Under Windows Specifications, are you running Windows 10 (1709), or (1803)?

I’ve never had a Thinkpad.
It could be they are managing the drivers and have not updated to the current driver yet.

(Litwinaa) #15

Hello John,

Version: 1803

Thank you,

Andy

(John Brock) #16

Okay, that’s the newest one.
I stayed at 1709 on my Surface Pro 4 myself.
That said, I’m not placing any blame on 1803, just pointing out a difference.

Hello John,
yes , ok. Let’s see what happens once I get the latest drivers installed.
Thank you,
Andy
