You had me at spherical triangles
“spherical trigonometry … differs from ordinary trigonometry in many respects; for example, the sum of the interior angles of a [spherical] triangle exceeds 180 degrees.”
That explains, not the math, but why my math in my experiments has failed so miserably.

you can do that with just Move
and tangent snap. right?
Yes. Create the line. Move, select point on the line, then move to the curve until the Tan OSnap snaps.
That’s great. Easier than my method to do manually.
I’m terrible at math(s) that’s why I use Rhino for everything!
And that’s why I love this forum. You learn something new everyday. I’d say it’s as important as following tutorials and watching YouTube videos.
