Draw a modified football shape

I draw a line, then draw a de-formable ellipse, I trim half of the ellipse

My curve line is 2 segments, I drew the top half to the shape I wanted and then mirrored the top curve. I tried Join for the 2 line segments but it doesn’t seem to Join. then I did “Revolve” and create my football.

now I have 2 half football surfaces. I need a solid, I would prefer not to half to work with 2 halves. Next I need to put a flat side on the football,

now I have a flat side, how do I make a solid?

Hi Kevin - I’d start here… there are some tools in Rhino to help - object snaps for accuracy, the GCon (geometric continuity) command to determine if the ends are within tolerance for a join, others. Post the file if you cannot sort it out.

ok, I will look into that. I had used snap to endpoints.

when zooming in I don’t see that the lines are not attached, but when I select the curve, why is there so many copies?

Hi Kevin - run SelDup and Delete, then Join the two remaining curves - somehow you’ve got copies of the curves piled on top of each other.
But, for a Revolve - leave out the axis line - just revolve the shape curve.

ok, that makes sense, I know I always end of with copies, when I went back and looked at my file I already had a solid and didn’t know it, Thanks your help and confirming my error.
