if I have a scanned item in rhino that is approximately 500mm wide x 150 mm deep with a front face that is gradually curved i.e it is approx 2mm-3mm deeper in the center of the 500mm width.
and I trace a 2d profile from it onto a planar plane, then extrude this 2d profile / shape up by 2mm ish into a solid planar 3D shape that is now 2mm thick.
I would like to then project, drape or flow this new planar 3d shape onto the top of the 3d scan to check how well it will fit/look.
is this possible in Rhino?
in real life, the part will be laser cut from metal and the flex in the metal will take the final shape but I will want to see how it looks before manufacture…
