Display Precision Problem

Why can I never seem to get this right? I start a new document, and my display precision defaults to two decimal numbers when I want three or more. I’ll then go into Units, bump Display Precision to three (o more numbers), but still my measuring tools stay at two decimal places. Call me a dummy if you want, but I don’t understand why this can’t be easier or more intuitive to set up for the casual user.

Hi Hal - what tools are these? If these are dimensions as distinct from the Length and Distance commands, then you need to set dimension precision in DocumentProperties > Annotation styles page > the particular annotation style you are using.

-Pascal

Which “measuring tools”? If you are using the commands like Length and Distance, they should obey the values you set above. If you are however using dimensions to measure stuff, they are set independently in Document Properties > Annotation Styles.

I’m using this measuring tool (in the top toolbar):
Capture measuring tools

Yes, those are dimension creation tools. Generally dimensions are used for making printable plans, if you are just wanting to know the length, distance etc. but not necessarily wanting to have a permanent dimension object in the Rhino file, you can use the analysis tools like Length, Distance etc. available in the Analyse toolbar.

Ok. I see my fault. The thing that keeps throwing me is the term “Distance Display” in the Units box. Thanks to you and Helvetosaur for clarifying.
