I have three display modes for different purposes, which have different background colours also. How do I set a specific grid colour for each of the different display modes, so the grid is well visible?
the wish is real for sure
Based on Wireframe I created a custom display mode with white background. The default mid gray for the grid is a bit too strong. I’d prefer it to be a brighter gray. But only for that mode.
Can this be done?
could we add individual colours in the grid setting for the grid? right now we have individual grid settings also the axis colour can be changed per mode, but we can not set the grid colour individually. i am trying to set up a display mode that has the grid transparent above, but the general grid colour is unusable in this scenario, changing the grid colour only works globally but not individually.
@wim i believe there is a non public tracker anything you can share?

It really is most peculiar that you can customise just about anything with display modes, but not the grid colour.

while we are at it having that dot grid finally would be a neat treat either, some more adaptability for one of the most used features of Rhino would definitely be a wonderful addition
Would it be possible to implement “Dot Grid” as an option that’s part of the standard Grid command settings/configuration?
For example, my screenshot below is taken from QCAD. There is a check box option in that particular program titled “Solid grid lines” – checking it shows the typical horizontal/vertical “LINE grid” at the user specified interval. Unchecking that option shows the “DOT grid” where points are located at the intersections of the user specified interval. The important thing to n…
@jeff is that maybe your real estate?

Unfortunately not on a per-display-mode basis.
Grid colors are controlled in Options→Appearance→Colors
You can access them via command macros like this:
-Options Appearance Colors Custom Viewport MajorGridLine=255,0,0 EnterEnd
Best current workaround would be to make a macro that both switches the display mode and also changes the grid colors.

I’ve added this thread to the non-public tracker item RH-10212 “Grid color and line type control desired for custom display”
