Display mode for large scenes. Camera distance based mesh rendering?


As a bridge designer, I mostly work with very large scenes (kilometers and often more than 1GB files) and the scenes have a lot of repeating high detail geometries. The consequence is that the viewport can become very slow when there are many distant objects in view.

Are there any shader/display mode tricks (similar to the default shaded mode) which would prioritize rendering objects in a higher quality only a certain distance from the camera? Objects beyond 100-200m are barely distinguishable, but are just as expensive to render in viewport.
