Display issues, Rhino V7. Select Window, Gumball, Crosshairs, View Modes

I have read through a lot of posts but I don’t see these issues mentioned anywhere specifically…

Issues experienced

  • Selection box is missing. When selecting left to right, no solid box. When selecting right to left, no dashed box, just a faint blue rectangle.

  • Gumball disappears when hovered near. Making it useless for grabbing axis.

  • Crosshairs only show up when panning.

  • Rendered and Arctic view show up as black. Added point lights, still black.

Seems like the first three might be related. As if it will only display these elements if the display is actively being refreshed… These three issues make the program almost unusable for me. The black display mode issue is frustrating, but I suppose I could learn to live without ‘Rendered’ mode. I do like the looks of the Arctic mode and it is one of the reasons I bought the upgrade. I am wondering of some issues might be also related to the fact that my computer has a DreamColor Display running at 3840X2160. Any insight would be appreciated!

Please help!

So far I have updated Rhino7 to the newest release candidate and updated my display drivers to the most recent version.

Answering my own question now that I have spent hours on it…

  • Take one last look at the buttery smooth, anti-aliased lines, then open the Options Dialogue Box.

  • Scroll down to the bottom and expand View

  • Highlight OpenGL. Antialiasing default for me was 4X. Change to ‘None’

  • Close dialogue box

  • If this works, you can also try setting Antialiasing to 8X! This setting also worked for me but 2X and 4X did not.

  • Have fun playing with the new features!
