No, this is not currently possible.
Note that if the dimension is actually attached to some object, as dims have history enabled, if you modify the object it is attached to, the dimension should automatically move with the object - without having to select and modify it separately.
For curves, it is possible, but subdivision of objects does not support history, and mesh planes do. I am not sure if this is a bug
Not sure what you mean by “subdivision of objects”… I guess you mean SubD objects? I see that, dimension history does not seem to work with SubD’s.
