Difficulties with editing parameter names in GH2

I’m trying out GH2 on MacOS and finding that my ability to use and edit parameter names is crippled compared to GH1.

  1. In GH1 the ability to have an output parameter name copy over to an input when wiring to that input is toggled on and off with the alt/option key. When activated, the wire being dragged turns red to indicate the parameter name copy function is active. It would be fantastic to have this behaviour on GH2 as well :folded_hands:
  2. After right-clicking on a parameter, in GH1 the tab key makes the parameter name field active for editing, in GH2 tab key does nothing. Please add this.
  3. The parameter name field in GH2 lacks very basic editing functions: double-clicking does not select a word, triple clicking does not select-all, unable to cut, copy, or paste!

My workflow in GH1 is based on creating meaningful parameter names. This helps tremendously when returning to sections of a definition later on, sometimes years later, and quickly understanding what data is flowing where. Bug hunting is greatly aided by this practice. I would dearly love to be able to work this way in GH2 as well.

Hi Leo,

Added a feature request for each of these. Thanks for reporting.

RH-97601 Alt/option name propagation when wiring
RH-97602 Tab should activate the parameter name field
RH-97603 Parameter name field lacks basic text editing

Much appreciated Japhy!

Really like the well written and insightful requests. I also really appreciate your mentioning of the need for find/replace across nicknames. That would be so immensely valuable for any users who work with meaningful parameter names!
