Delete Key does not work after selecting objects by layer

After selecting objects via the layer right-click menu (both “select objects” and “select sublayer objects”), if I want to delete the objects, I have to type delete instead of using the delete key on my keyboard.

Using the key just plays the windows error sound but works as expected after a window selection. What could be going on here?

I am on Windows 10 Pro with Rhino 6 SR35

Hi Paul, I cannot, so far, repeat this - can you please run SystemInfo in Rhino and Copy/Paste the results here?
Does the delete key work if you click in the command line first, to give it focus?
-Pascal

I can’t repeat this either.
Are you running any 3rd part plug-ins?

This is the results of the systeminfo command:

I have no idea how or if they would cause an error like this, but there were two things I changed recently; I unbound the help shortcut from its function key, and I customized a few commands that I run from the popup (None of which included a delete command)

Clicking on the command line window after selecting objects by layer is the solution. I did not think about it, but I recently started floating the command window on top of the workspace.

Is there any way to make it so the command line is automatically brought back into focus or is this an intentional feature (or unfortunate problem with windows)?

Hi Paul - I see that with a floating commnd prompt in V6 and V7, the Delete key does not work. (It does work in the V8 WIP)

rhino should give back focus to the viewport / commandline in a more consistent way.
_setPt
_curvatureGraph
and other commands need extra clicks … quite annoying.

I also would expect that focus is returned to the main viewport commandline after pressing “enter” - for example in the properties window or others…

The other weird thing is that typing works as intended on my system, but the delete key does not auto focus it

Got that, thanks - starting with Properties for nbow

RH-75288 is fixed in the latest WIP
