Decal properties button missing from object properties tab

Hi all, just wondering if anyone else has come across the decal button missing? Yes, even when an object is selected, the decal properties button is not available. Under the properties tab, buttons are as follows:
Object; Material; Texture Mapping; Thickness; Edge Softening; Shut Lining; Displacement; Attirbute User Text.

I’ve tried selecting surfaces, polysufaces and meshes, none have the decal button.
