Dealing with channel packed textures

Can we please have some options to deal with channel-packed textures?
Often assets from sources like Sketchfab have channel-packed textures, other assets have not it’s a bit messy at times.

  1. Can we have ticks in the texture panel to disable certain channels for given texture?

  1. Contrary to 1, Can we point to the specific image channels in material texture slots? Is channel packing worth the hassle in Rhino OpenlGL and Cycles render?
