Dead laptop. How to find/transfer Rhino customizations to a new machine?

My Laptop that I use for Rhino has died. I can put the m.2 hard drive from the machine in a USB enclosure and access everything on it. Where might I find my customization files, and will dragging them over to a new install on a new machine work?

Which customization files do you mean?
Here you can you can find the most answers:

For V6 and later - within the same version : The easiest way is to simply copy the settings-Scheme_Default.xml file from one installation to the other, replacing the original. The file is located at C:\Users<username>\AppData\Roaming\McNeel\Rhinoceros<version number>\settings .

This is not the best way for V8. If you can access the file system on the old drive, navigate to

C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Roaming\McNeel\Rhinoceros\8.0

and copy the entire settings folder out of there.

In the new machine install Rhino, close it and then replace the entire settings folder in the same location with your copy from the old drive. Then start Rhino. That should get you most if not all of it - unless you had a custom .rui as well. If that’s the case copy it from the old drive and put it in the same place on the new one.

Thanks. Trying to sort this before the new machine arrives.
